Podcast: “Out loud!”

Here you will find podcasts dealing with particular works of art. They include a visual analysis of the work, some useful background on the art and the artist, and suggestions on how to approach the artwork.

Too often I hear people say “This is nice” or “I don’t really understand it” when they look at an artwork. Often they also walk past quickly unless the work has some personal, more intimate association that catches their attention. Indeed, art is meant to be subjective and highly personal, but a little knowledge of how to approach a previously unseen work of art can go a long way to helping museum visitors to take away more from a viewing than “it is nice.”

Below I am posting podcasts which detail some of the paintings that I especially love. Please let me know in the comments what you think, what other works you would like to see appearing here, and whether the approach I suggest is helping you discover more of your local museums and art galleries!
